It’s amazing how fast time goes. I feel like I just posted about my last post on Jaimi’s blog The Stay-at-Home-Mom Survival Guide. For this installment of Mom Motivation Mondays I discuss losing one’s self in motherhood. It’s something I have struggled with since becoming a mother, especially as a new mom. A lot of new moms may feel like this, but I feel sometimes there is the perception that to have a child equals endless happiness. I often times felt stigmatized because I struggled with motherhood more than other mothers I saw. I want all moms to know that there are a multitude of things that happen during the course of motherhood you necessarily didn’t imagine encountering. This a sneak peek at my post that is up on Jaimi’s blog.
I was losing myself in motherhood.
Motherhood.
A collection of ups and downs, highs and lows, joy and sadness, frustration and love – there is just so much that comes with motherhood that is unexpected and not easily describable.
Think for a moment about how many parenting books are currently on the market. I know there’s a lot because I used to buy them trying desperately to better understand myself as a mother and why my daughter was wailing day in and day out. (A sleep deprived mother will go to great lengths to find a solution to get their kid to A) stop crying and B) go to sleep for more than a few hours!)
Of all the things I’ve experienced as a mother I think what has been most unexpected and surprising about motherhood is how easy it has been to lose myself in it.
